Nigerian artist Laime returns with his latest body of work, a three-track EP titled State Of Emergency (Summer That Never Happened). Four years after his 2021 project, which posed the question ‘If Summer Happened,’ this new release offers a powerful and poignant answer, reflecting on the challenges and resilience of life in Nigeria today.
The EP opens with “For Here,” an urgent Afro-fusion track that immediately connects with listeners through its raw honesty. The line “Tin tomato don turn one thousand” is a direct and relatable reference to the soaring cost of living, addressing the widespread struggle with inflation and the daily grind of survival.
