Afrofusion sensation Laime has joined forces with the dynamic duo Ajebo Hustlers for the release of their captivating new single, “Clingy.” This mid-tempo groove masterfully navigates the complex terrain between heartfelt romantic devotion and raw emotional vulnerability, all wrapped in an irresistible Afropop bounce.
Produced by the talented Maazi and Thrill Max, “Clingy” delivers a sonic landscape rich with warm guitar riffs and skittering drum patterns, creating a cozy yet undeniably dynamic backdrop. The track is a modern love letter, candid and relatable, capturing the push and pull between desire and the instinct for self-preservation.
Laime’s signature candor shines brightly, particularly in lines like, “I guess I’m scared to be alone / ‘Cause I’m clingy as fuck,” revealing the confessions of a self-aware, hopeless romantic. Ajebo Hustlers add their distinctive streetwise charm, injecting the track with playful pidgin lyricism and memorable lines like, “Defense like Mo Salah,” further enriching the song’s relatable narrative.
“Clingy” is a testament to the artists’ ability to blend authentic emotions with infectious melodies, creating a track that resonates deeply with listeners. This collaboration is a must-listen for anyone who has experienced the bittersweet realities of modern romance.
