Jukebox Top Songs Of The Month featuring Wizard Chan, Nasboi, Reminsce, Oxlade & More
The past month had its own quota of good music, with different artists dropping their works, resulting in a fair share of hits. Here, we have listed our picks for the top 10 songs from the month:
Wizard Chan – Time Traveler
Earlier in the month, Wizard Chan delivered a new single, “Time Traveler.” In his usual earthy style, he captivates listeners with themes of wisdom and piety. The record explores maturity and the immense responsibility that comes with it. He recounts his father’s advice on integrity and legacy while emphasizing the importance of striving for “earthly possessions” with lines like, “Son, a good name is better than silver and gold / But still look for the gold / ‘Cause this time, you want to travel; the fee is paid in gold.”
Nasboi ft. Chike – Could Be Love
From creating skits as a Davido parody to excelling in music, Nasboi has an inspiring story. Now establishing a good name for himself as both a skit maker and music artist, his journey is a beauty to behold. He just dropped his debut EP, which features some gems, including his single with Chike. On a track about love, who better to feature than the industry’s boyfriend, Chike? They both float effortlessly over the low-tempo production by Dee Yaso, creating a beautiful love ode.
Reminisce – Up As Fxck
Reminisce recently dropped a new EP, his second project of the year. The project features a star-studded lineup, including Vector and Bhadboi OML, but the standout track was the pre-released single with Badboy Timz. For the perfect recruitment for a fast-tempo Afrobeats-Amapiano fusion, Reminisce enlisted Badboy Timz, and he did not disappoint. Reminisce also contributed his part to the record, carrying the vibe for a fantastic dance tune
DJ Neptune ft. Qing Madi- Honest
Continuing a series he started in 2018, followed up in 2020, and now in its third installment, DJ Neptune unveiled Greatness III. Among other hits on the project, we selected Qing Madi for her memorable performance. In the record, she attempts to retract her steps from an overtly excessive lover, delivering her lines with unforgettable vocals and stellar production from DJ Neptune.
Alpha P – OMW ft. Kemuel
Alpha P recently dropped his latest EP as part of the multiple projects released this month. He enlisted fellow youngster Kemuel on one of the singles. The two acts floated on the Wondah production, celebrating the everlasting availability specially made for lovebirds.
Oxlade ft. Wande Coal – Asunasa
Oxlade has ended the spell he held over the music scene with the release of his debut album. Following an already established career, he just dropped this highly anticipated project. Enlisting Wande Coal on the single “Asunasa,” they showcased their chemistry. Rounded out by TUC, Oxlade demonstrated why his new project was so eagerly awaited, while Wande confirmed the saying, “Nobody sings better than Wande Coal.” Interestingly, the title “Asunasa” is the phonetic spelling of “As soon as I,” a stylistic choice we’ve seen Oxlade use since “Kulosa.”
LAX ft. Taves and Ayo Maff – Let Me Know
LAX assembled the new-gen avengers for his single, featuring Ayo Maff and Taves, who have been among the hottest names in the market. The two youngsters heavily directed the tempo of the record, delivering short but impactful hooks that highlight the single in a way that makes it hard to pick out the best parts.
Odunsi – BACK IN OFFICE
Odunsi has been on a hot streak this year, carrying heavily for the Alte genre. Just when we thought he was slowing down, he dropped the three pack singles under the banner “Nigerian Boyfriend”. Her angelic voice elevates the entire record.
