Chike Unveils “Son of Chike Stripped,” a Seven-Track Acoustic Reimagining
Chike, the acclaimed Nigerian artist known for his soulful voice and compelling storytelling, has released “Son of Chike Stripped,” a seven-track acoustic reimagining of his acclaimed album.
Chike’s emergence onto the Nigerian music scene coincided with the global COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, with his debut album, “Boo of the Booless.” His ability to capture universal emotions resonated with listeners, earning him widespread recognition. He has since solidified his position as a leading voice in Nigeria, celebrated for his rich vocals, narrative-driven songwriting, and genre-blending sound. His subsequent albums, “The Brother’s Keeper” (which won Best R&B Album at the 2023 Headies) and “Son of Chike” (which won Viewers’ Choice at the 2025 Headies), have further cemented his reputation as an artist who explores the emotional spectrum of life.
“Son of Chike Stripped” offers a new perspective on some of Chike’s most beloved tracks, presenting them in a stripped-down, intimate format. The project was inspired by the artist’s popular Tuesday acoustic sessions on social media.
Tracks such as “Mma (Beauty),” a tender ode to a lover, and “Apple,” a song of reassurance and devotion, are given new depth and resonance in their simpler forms. The project is produced by DeeYasso, a longtime collaborator of Chike, who skillfully preserves the warmth and intimacy that characterize Chike’s music.
Chike’s songs have become a soundtrack for love stories across generations, capturing the essence of romance in its various stages. With “Son of Chike Stripped,” he invites listeners to experience his artistry in its purest form, demonstrating the enduring power of well-crafted songs.
