Nigerian music star Skales has released his highly anticipated album, ‘Martina’s Son,’ a deeply personal project dedicated to his mother, Martina, whose unwavering support was the foundation of his career. The album arrives at a time of remarkable resurgence for Skales, following the viral revival of his 2014 hit “Shake Body,” which was re-ignited by a share from Barcelona football star Lamine Yamal. This renewed global attention has reminded fans and critics alike of Skales’ significant place in the music landscape.
‘Martina’s Son’ is a powerful collection of tracks that showcase Skales’ signature versatility. The album weaves together a rich tapestry of sounds, seamlessly blending Afro-pop with the raw energy of street-hop, the smooth appeal of R&B, and the uplifting feel of gospel music. It is a testament to the diverse influences that have shaped his artistry.
The album features a stellar lineup of collaborators, including Fave, Tome, Joshua Baraka, Nasboi, Faze, Magneto, Innoss B, and Yinka Ayefele, each adding a unique dimension to the project while keeping Skales’ distinct voice at its core.
From the high-energy tracks like “Mental” and “Scandal” that capture his vibrant nightlife persona, to the romantic charm of “Body On Me,” the album offers a full spectrum of emotions. It also includes reflective moments on “Blessings Shower” and “Glory,” providing a glimpse into his personal journey. The album is anchored by a cross-cultural nod, with a Spanish remix of “Shake Body” that honors the song’s recent viral moment and global reach.
More than just a musical offering, ‘Martina’s Son’ is a heartfelt narrative of gratitude, resilience, and self-belief. It reflects Skales’ philosophy that true happiness comes from peace of mind and doing what you love. With this album, Skales solidifies his legacy and invites the world to join him in celebrating a journey defined not by awards, but by family, community, and an unshakeable belief in oneself.
