Hanna, the 26-year-old British-Zimbabwean-Ethiopian lyricist, has released her new single “Tough Crowd.” The song is a meditative soul-rap piece that blends gentle melodies with brutally honest lyrics, solidifying her place as a leading voice in African hip-hop.
“Tough Crowd” is a deeply personal track that speaks to the exhaustion of giving your all and still feeling unseen. Hanna’s delivery is both vulnerable and resilient, acknowledging the weight of her struggles without begging for recognition. The lyrics offer affirmations rather than regrets, with lines like “You couldn’t give more love… at least you did try.”
The song finds a rare stillness in a world of noise, reminding listeners that their self-worth is not measured by applause. Hanna explains that she wrote the song “for anyone who’s ever felt invisible after giving their all. It’s a thank-you note to the inner fighter.”
With a career that includes a #emPawa100 spotlight and multiple award nominations, Hanna continues to use her voice to speak truth. “Tough Crowd” stands as a testament to her artistic evolution and her ability to create music that is both introspective and powerful.
