Emerging as a luminous new force in the Zambian Afro-pop scene, singer-songwriter Uitu has officially released her latest single, “Te Gusta.” Known for a sound defined by raw, emotional transparency, Uitu continues to build her global reputation as an artist who maps the quiet and often complicated corners of the human heart.
“Te Gusta” dives into the electric, often terrifying transition where a long-standing friendship begins to shift into something more. The track captures that unbidden spark—the exact moment a person realizes their feelings have outgrown the safe boundaries of platonic affection. Uitu’s lyricism portrays a protagonist blindsided by her own heart, finding herself emotionally exposed in ways that are as beautiful as they are agonizing.
The power of the song lies in its exploration of risk versus safety. Uitu articulates the static energy of two people standing on a precipice, both sensing a life-changing connection but paralyzed by the uncertainty of the jump. It is a tribute to the “risk” of love—the delicate balance of choosing between the security of a lifelong friendship and the potential of a blooming romance.
With “Te Gusta,” Uitu reinforces her position as a premier storyteller in the Southern African music landscape. The track blends smooth Afro-pop rhythms with a vulnerable vocal delivery, creating an atmospheric experience that resonates with anyone who has ever stood at the crossroads of their own emotions.
“Te Gusta” is available now for streaming and download on all major digital music platforms.
