Wizkid & Asake release joint EP ‘REAL, Vol. 1’

The landscape of African music has reached a historic milestone today, Friday, January 23, 2026, as global icons Wizkid and Asake officially release their highly anticipated collaborative project, REAL, Vol. 1. First announced during a viral Apple Music interview last December, the EP arrives as a definitive celebration of their shared chemistry, bridging the gap between global Afrobeat elegance and the rhythmic pulse of the streets.
The project’s rollout has been nothing short of record-breaking. The lead single, “Jogodo,” produced by the prolific Magicsticks, shattered the Nigerian first-week streaming record upon its release last week. It amassed an unprecedented 1.388 million streams on Spotify Nigeria within its first 24 hours—the highest single-day total for any collaboration in the country’s history. This momentum follows Wizkid’s recent achievement as the first African artist to surpass 10 billion cumulative streams on Spotify, setting a massive stage for this joint era.
REAL, Vol. 1 is a compact, four-track journey that showcases the natural synergy between the two heavyweights. The tracklist includes:
Turbulence
Jogodo
Iskolodo
Alaye
From the high-energy percussion of “Alaye” to the sophisticated strings and log drums of “Turbulence,” the EP highlights why this partnership is considered one of the most culturally significant moments in modern Afrobeats. Both artists describe the project as a natural evolution of their friendship, emphasizing a “real” connection that transcends music. Asake’s signature Yoruba vocals and street-born cadences blend seamlessly with Wizkid’s smooth, seasoned delivery, creating a body of work that is already dominating charts across Apple Music and Spotify globally.
With REAL, Vol. 1 now available, Wizkid and Asake have not only met the sky-high expectations of their fans but have redefined the benchmark for collaborative projects in the industry.
REAL, Vol. 1 is available to stream now on all major digital platforms.
