Modola Shines with Debut EP “New Light”

Modola (born Temidola Awosika), a true cultural bridge and artist of boundless vision, is set to captivate audiences with her debut EP, “New Light.” Raised in Milan and fluent in Italian, Spanish, and French, this Pan-African songstress delivers a sound as diverse and rich as her upbringing. A scholar with multiple degrees who seamlessly merges intellect with artistry, Modola is living proof that excellence knows no borders.

“New Light” serves as a radiant introduction to Modola’s unique Afropop flair and candid storytelling. Each track on the EP shines a distinct light on her personal journey and unwavering grind, offering listeners an intimate glimpse into her world.

The EP is a genre-blurring odyssey that pulsates with the vibrant heartbeat of Lagos while embracing the cosmopolitan flair of Europe. It opens with “Masun” (“Don’t sleep”), a powerful anthem that speaks directly to the relentless hustle mindset of Nigerian youth. Following this, “No Stress” emerges as a rebellion anthem, delivered with a clever, tongue-in-cheek ease. Modola then flexes her streetwise ambition with “Oro Owo,” before elevating into an undeniable alté swagger on “Biling.” The EP finishes strong with “Talk” and “Kontrolla,” tracks that firmly establish Modola as a playful, unpredictable, and exciting new voice in music.

“This EP is my love letter to every young woman who refuses to be boxed in,” says Modola. “Whether it’s the grind of ‘Masun’ or the freedom of ‘No Stress’, I want my music to remind you—your light doesn’t need permission to shine.”

“New Light” is available now on all major streaming platforms.
