Gaise Baba has spent nearly two decades building a distinctive space where faith, culture, and
contemporary African music meet. Born Akinade Ibuoye, the award-winning Afrofusion and Afrogospel
artist has consistently used music to challenge perspectives, encourage deeper faith, and show that
spiritual conviction can exist comfortably within contemporary African culture.
His recent success with “No Turning Back II,” the viral anthem featuring Lawrence Oyor, introduced
his message to an even wider audience, but Gaise Baba’s work has always extended beyond individual
songs. Through initiatives such as the LightOut High School Tour and ARAMANDA, as well as his
creative community, Foxes on Fire, he continues to build spaces where music, faith, culture, and
community intersect.
Now, he turns that vision inward on his latest album, “God Is Cooking,” a thirteen-track project centred
on worship, spiritual growth, perseverance, and the confidence that God is still at work even when the
outcome is not yet visible.
The album opens with “Lenu,” a celebration of worship and the power of declaring God's truth. “Show
Workings” moves from belief to action, encouraging listeners to demonstrate their faith through the way
they live, while “Oruko” exalts the name of Jesus as a source of strength and victory. “No Turning
Back II” reinforces Gaise Baba’s commitment to following Christ, while “Want to Grow” expresses a
desire for deeper spiritual maturity through prayer and the study of God's Word.
On “Yield,” Gaise Baba explores the humility required to surrender completely to God's direction.
“Smile for Joy” carries the album's message of hope forward, encouraging listeners to remain joyful and
expectant even while waiting for God's promises to unfold.
The second half of “God Is Cooking” expands that message from personal faith to collective purpose.
“We Outside” encourages believers to take their faith beyond private spaces and live boldly in the world.
“Light of Africa” widens the lens further, calling for a continent defined by hope, courage, and purpose.
“Coming Down” reflects on the power of faith-filled obedience, while “He's Not Done” offers
reassurance that unfinished seasons do not mean forgotten promises.
The album closes with “Fire,” a prayer for spiritual renewal, and “We Will Go,” a final declaration of
willingness to carry the message of Christ wherever He leads. Together, the thirteen songs form a journey
from worship and surrender to courage, purpose, and expectation.
“God Is Cooking” is about trusting the process. The title becomes a metaphor for the unseen work taking
place before the results become visible, a reminder that waiting does not mean nothing is happening.
