IDYL, the soulful singer who captured the hearts of millions as the winner of The Voice Nigeria in 2017, is back with a new single titled “Precaution.” The track, which is his second release of 2025, continues his evolution as a storyteller, blending his signature heartfelt sound with a powerful message of spiritual awareness and humility.
Following the success of his debut EP Indulgence, “Precaution” is a deeply personal and reflective track. Built on a warm Afropop tempo with gospel-inspired undertones, the song serves as a testimony about navigating a world full of noise, envy, and distraction with divine guidance.
IDYL opens the track with a moment of refreshing vulnerability, singing, “Say I’m a human being… I gat my own flaws.” The song celebrates personal growth, wisdom, and the kind of inner strength that comes from a deep faith. Lines like “On my guard… I dey focus my front like a decimal” speak to the spiritual and mental discipline the artist lives by, while “You can never see me for junction…” reaffirms that caution is not fear, but rather divine wisdom.
“Precaution” seamlessly blends soul, scripture, and street-smarts, delivering a powerful reminder to young people that success and survival require more than just hustle—they require grace and gratitude.
“This song is my truth,” IDYL says. “I’ve made mistakes, I’ve grown, and I’ve seen God protect me through it all. ‘Precaution’ is about staying alert, spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and thanking God every step of the way.”
