Following standout releases like “Uloma” and “Waistime,” Nigerian singer-songwriter Warsheep returns with “Nova”, a sultry, atmospheric single that leans into the magnetism of messy, high- stakes romance. Blending alt-Afro textures with modern R&B sensibilities, the track captures thepull of someone who’s equal parts angel and storm.
“Nova” unfolds like a late-night drive through neon-lit streets: moody, fast-paced, and charged with tension. Warsheep sings of a woman who’s “lowkey crazy but it’s alright”, a paradox of halo and horns, tenderness and chaos. He’s fully aware of the risk (“She’s a lot of trouble”), yet drawn in by the thrill, the mystery, the heat. Lines like “Angel for Diablo” blur the line between devotion and obsession, painting love as something beautiful precisely because it’s unstable.
The production mirrors the theme, smooth but shadowed, with a rhythmic bounce that pulses like a heartbeat under pressure. “Nova” is about the kind that consumes, confuses, and compels you to stay, even when you know better. In Warsheep’s hands, that contradiction becomes irresistible.
“Nova” is out on all platforms.
