When the “Black Diamond” of Afrobeats collaborates with the crown princess of Gen Z soul, the result is nothing short of magical. Wande Coal and Qing Madi have officially released their highly anticipated single, “DEARLY,” a track that stands as a sophisticated masterclass in vocal harmony and emotional depth.
Wande Coal, a veteran whose influence on the modern Afrobeats sound is immeasurable, brings his signature silky tenor to the record. He is joined by Qing Madi, whose fresh and emotive texture proves exactly why she is regarded as one of the most exciting voices of her generation. Together, they deliver a mid-tempo Afro-R&B fusion that prioritizes pure talent over industry noise.
“DEARLY” centers on themes of cherished affection and long-term commitment. The production is intentionally minimalist, providing a clean canvas that allows the vocal performances to take center stage. Wande Coal’s unmatched ability to switch between high-tenor runs and grounded melodies finds a perfect match in Qing Madi, who holds her own with a creative maturity that belies her years.
The synergy between the two artists feels entirely organic, moving like a conversation between two distinct eras of Nigerian pop. While Wande Coal represents the foundations of the 2010s Afrobeats boom, Qing Madi embodies the genre-bending future of the sound. By steering away from the frantic pace of current club trends, the duo has created something more enduring—a track designed for late-night drives and timeless wedding playlists.
“DEARLY” serves as a potent reminder that vocal chemistry still reigns supreme. For Wande Coal, it is another jewel in an already illustrious crown. For Qing Madi, it is a definitive “arrival” moment, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with one of the greatest vocalists the continent has ever produced.
“DEARLY” is now available for streaming and download on all major digital music platforms.
