In a music landscape overflowing with sound-alike acts and trend-driven singles, a fresh voice is rising steadily from the underground: Derriq, the Edo-born singer-songwriter whose Afro-soul-infused party anthems are capturing the hearts of Nigeria’s nightlife crowd.
With just three singles under his belt—”Position,” “Vibration,” and most recently “Confidence”—Derriq is proving that consistency, authenticity, and an ear for timeless melodies can still turn heads. Each of his tracks blends smooth vocals with vibrant rhythms, reflecting both his calm demeanor and his ability to energize a crowd.
Having already made notable appearances at events like Rave Party Benin, Party Next Door Concert, and Mazitundeednut’s birthday party in Abuja, Derriq has gone from being a hidden gem to a requested act in the party scene. Known for his unique vocal tone and lyrical placement, his music isn’t just heard, it’s felt.
As his confidence builds and the streams stack up, more DJs and event organizers are taking notice. And with new projects in the works, including his upcoming single “Omo n’ Ogie” the quiet storm that is Derriq is ready to command an even larger stage.
