Nigerian rap heavyweight Phyno has released his latest single, “Ask of Me,” offering a mature and soul-stirring reflection as a precursor to his upcoming project. The highlife-infused track is a powerful exploration of loyalty, sacrifice, and the quiet strength that comes from understanding one’s true worth.
“Ask of Me” marks a compelling departure from bravado-driven anthems, delving instead into the complex nuances of responsibility and relationships. Phyno’s delivery is deeply meaningful, with his signature Igbo-infused flow weaving through verses that examine the demands placed upon him by family, friends, and society. Crucially, the song reaffirms his commitment to remain true to himself and his roots despite the pressures of success.
The track is built on a compelling backdrop provided by Jswarg production, which complements Phyno’s flow perfectly without ever overpowering his message. This release follows his earlier freestyle, “Can’t Look Back,” signaling a period of introspection and artistry for the celebrated rapper.
With “Ask of Me,” Phyno offers listeners a grounded and introspective look at the man behind the music, solidifying his status as an artist capable of both massive hits and deeply thoughtful commentary.
“Ask of Me” is available now on all major streaming platforms.
