Nigerian artist M’Kido, born Mujeeb Adekunle Amosun, has long blended his multilingual fluency and pan-African experiences into a sound that defies easy labels. From early performances with the late DJ Arafat to breakout hits like “Olo LoLo,” his music carries the warmth of West African rhythm and the elegance of Francophone soul. With “Like U II,” featuring vocalist Remy, he crafts a love song that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant.
“Like U II” moves effortlessly between French, English, Yoruba, and Pidgin, mirroring the fluidity of modern African romance. Over smooth Afro-fusion instrumentation and gentle percussive grooves, the two artists trade verses that brim with sincerity and admiration. The chorus, “Nobody be like you”, is simple but powerful, anchoring the song in irreplaceable affection. Playful lines like “Je suis très jaloux, c’est toi qui me rend fou” add texture, while terms of endearment like Orekelewa, Adumaradan, and Omalicha honor beauty in full cultural
color.
“Like U II” is a declaration of presence: “I promise you my love for the years we will spend together.”
M’Kido and Remy show how love speaks every language at once.
