Following a captivating sequence of intimate releases, including “Safe,” “Misbehave,” and “Wonda,” the Rivers State-born R&B artist Kotrell makes a tender return with his latest single, “When You Know.” This new track, a beautifully stripped-down ballad, features the distinctive voice of Dwin the Stoic and explores the profound calm that settles over a relationship founded on true and simple love.
“When You Know” stands out as a sonic breath of fresh air, moving away from the common uncertainty that often defines modern love songs. Kotrell and Dwin the Stoic deliver a rare commodity in today’s music landscape: peace.
Built on a foundation of a gentle, repeating guitar loop and soft, layered harmonies, the track wisely allows the vocals to take center stage. Kotrell and Dwin the Stoic navigate the melody with a comfortable synergy, like two voices that have already shared all the most important sentiments.
The song’s core message is captured in its quiet, powerful refrain: “They say when you know, you know.” It’s a simple affirmation of commitment and mutual understanding. One voice sincerely offers loyalty and care, while the other naturally responds with ease and deep gratitude, perfectly illustrating the kind of love that finds deep warmth in the routines of the everyday.
Kotrell’s string of releases has solidified his position as a prominent voice in contemporary Nigerian R&B, celebrated for his heartfelt lyricism and intimate delivery. The collaboration with Dwin the Stoic adds a layer of depth, making “When You Know” a compelling listen for fans of soulful, meaningful music.
