Kidd Carder chronicles his ascent in new EP “Before I Blow”

2 min read

Following a breakout year that saw his music dominate digital charts across West Africa, Nigerian singer and songwriter Kidd Carder has released his highly anticipated EP, “Before I Blow.” Now available on all streaming platforms via ONErpm, the project serves as a definitive look at the years of practice and persistence that preceded his recent commercial success.

Born Oluwatosin Samuel, the 2002-born artist refined his vocal abilities in church choirs before transitioning into the vibrant street-pop and Afro-fusion scenes. After years of quiet work and studio sessions, Kidd Carder achieved massive recognition in 2025 with “Calculate.” This momentum culminated in his 2026 chart-topping single “Big Bum Bum,” featuring Mavo, which reached the number one spot on both Apple Music and Spotify Nigeria.

The EP “Before I Blow” serves as a narrative bridge between his humble beginnings and his current status. The project opens with an “Intro” where Kidd Carder reflects on his decade-long journey—having started singing at age twelve—and expresses a hunger for a clear path to his goals. The mood shifts with “Gobe,” a track with a brighter tempo and playful lyricism centered on the pull of attraction.

A central theme of the project is documented in “Elevate,” where he tracks his steady progress and the late nights spent studying his craft. The EP features the hit “Big Bum Bum” with Mavo, a track characterized by its infectious hook and street-smart confidence that has become a staple in club and mainstream spaces. The project concludes with “Eye Witness,” a grounded record that addresses the changing attitudes of those around him as his star rises.

“This EP is me before everything changes. It’s the work, the doubts, the hunger. I just wanted people to hear where it all started,” Kidd Carder shares.

With “Before I Blow,” Kidd Carder solidifies his reputation as a voice that speaks to the ambition of a new generation. The EP is out now and ready for global streaming.
