Abuja-based artist Jess ETA is back with a compelling new project, the “Cassanova” EP, building on the success of his breakthrough 2020 EP “Balance” (which garnered over a million streams) and his 2021 Audiomack x Afrochella Rising Star Challenge win with “Body on Fire” featuring BNXN. This latest collection delves into the intricate and often complex nature of modern relationships.
The “Cassanova” EP offers listeners a relatable and nuanced exploration of human connection. The opening track, “Up To Something,” captures the intriguing yet uncertain feeling of being drawn to someone with hidden intentions. In contrast, “Smooth Criminal” shifts the focus to pure admiration, set against a slick, jazzy instrumental crafted by Benjamz, inspiring a celebration of effortless charm. The metaphor of a “smooth criminal” beautifully illustrates someone who captivates with natural ease. The EP also touches on the crucial aspect of boundaries in “How Many,” exploring the importance of defining limits within relationships. Finally, “All Along” provides a heartwarming conclusion, serving as a declaration of finding a long-awaited sense of completeness.
With “Cassanova,” Jess ETA continues to showcase his artistic growth and versatility. The EP promises to take listeners on a relatable journey through the intricacies of human connection, further solidifying his position as an exciting and emerging voice within the Nigerian music scene.
