Acclaimed Nigerian singer and songwriter Fireboy DML has officially released his fifth studio album titled “ZUKO!,” a 13-track body of work that introduces a fresh sonic chapter in his evolving artistic journey.
Released through YBNL Nation and EMPIRE, “ZUKO!” arrives two years after his fourth studio project, “Adedamola” (2024). Known as one of the defining melodic voices in modern Afrobeats, Fireboy DML made history with his landmark 2019 debut album, “Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps,” which remains the only debut album by a Nigerian artist released without guest features. Subsequent projects including “Apollo,” “Playboy,” and “Adedamola” have continually expanded his reach, setting the stage for his latest full-length presentation.
“ZUKO!” blends the core rhythms of Afrobeats with the raw edge of Jamaican dancehall and the vibrant textures of South African electronic music. The 13-track collection opens with “Dear Father,” featuring Judah Earl, before moving into high-energy cuts like “By Fire!” and “CLAAT!,” featuring Jamaican dancehall star Masicka.
Other collaborative highlights include “GODDESS,” featuring Nigerian vocalist Lojay, and the cross-continental track “IMALI,” featuring South African acts JAZZWRLD and Thukuthela. “IMALI” has already secured a spot in the Top 20 on the Official Nigeria Top 100, marking Fireboy DML’s 25th Top 20 chart entry, according to TurnTable Charts. The album is rounded out by solo compositions including “C’EST LA VIE,” “ONE MAN REGIMENT,” “KILOWI,” “ONAZO!,” “S.L.U.T (SEX LOVE UNDERSTANDING TRUST),” “LIGHT OF DAWN,” “MIMI NAWE,” and “FIGHTING.”
Ahead of the release, Fireboy DML premiered THE RED COUCH SESSION: ZUKO! on YouTube, offering fans behind-the-scenes insights into the creative concept, thematic direction, and significance of the album’s title. “ZUKO!” marks another distinct reinvention for the artist, solidifying his ability to bridge global African soundscapes while maintaining his trademark storytelling precision.
