Afrobeats superstar Fireboy DML has released his contagious new single, “IMALI,” featuring JAZZWRLD and Thukuthela. Serving as the final lead single and sixth track from his highly anticipated fifth studio album, “ZUKO!,” the record marks an intentional, cross-continental link-up with Southern African dance culture.
Translating to “money” in both isiZulu and isiXhosa, “IMALI” centers on ambition, resilience, and the unyielding pursuit of success. On the track, Fireboy adapts his signature smooth vocal cadence to the rhythm, while Thukuthela’s performance provides an authentic anchor that grounds the record in its South African roots.
Produced entirely by JAZZWRLD, the production favors a measured, slow-burning intensity that builds steady momentum. As the countdown to the release of “ZUKO!” continues, “IMALI” stands out as a key thesis statement for the project, highlighting a deliberate paradigm shift in how West African artists engage with Southern African club sounds.
“IMALI” is out now and available on all major music streaming platforms worldwide.
