Eri-Ife is a Nigerian alternative R&B and soul artist whose music is shaped by romance, faith, identity, and emotional honesty. Fusing contemporary R&B sensibilities with traditional Yoruba influences.
Following his earlier single “Aroma,” Eri-Ife now returns with Rubicon, a five-track gospel EP that traces the journey from worship to unwavering commitment. The project moves from quiet intimacy to bold conviction, exploring divine love, gratitude, and the decision to follow without
looking back.
The EP opens with “T’orun Tori,” a worship song released earlier this year that meditates on one of faith’s greatest mysteries: a love so profound words cannot capture it. On “Ebenezer,” Eri-Ife transforms anxiety into declaration. Drawing from the biblical “stone of help” raised to
commemorate God’s faithfulness, the song serves as both testimony and confession: the God who sustained us before will do so again.
“Aroma” is built around the conviction that true fulfilment is found in abiding with God; the song pairs soothing melodies with deeply personal lyrics that long for communion.
The title track, “Rubicon,” frames discipleship as a decisive commitment. Borrowing from the symbolism of crossing a point of no return, the song declares that obedience outweighs fear and God’s voice is the only compass worth following. The declaration “I’m going, I’m going”, coupled with the Yoruba phrase “Ko s’ikoyin” (“there’s no turning back”), captures the faithful heart.
Closing the EP, “KSMD” short for “Kin Sha Ma Dupe” (“I will continue to give thanks”), testifies to gratitude. Rooted in the Yoruba tradition of thanksgiving, the song looks back at difficult seasons and recognises survival itself as a testimony.
Eri-Ife acknowledges God’s hand through every challenge and delay. The refrain establishes that gratitude is not conditional on circumstances; it is a response to remembrance.
