Dr Mbuvi is a multi-award-winning Kenyan contemporary gospel singer, comedian, and television presenter, widely celebrated as the “King of Kamba Music.” He has developed a distinctive sound that brings together traditional Akamba oral rhythms with modern gospel, Benga, and Afro-Soukous
production.
His new single “Come Back Home” turns its attention to anyone who has found themselves distant from their faith, opening with a call that echoes through the distance: “come back home, anakuita,” reminding them that God is still calling.
In the song, Dr Mbuvi looks back at a time when faith felt alive, remembering when the listener was “front row, mikono juu,” with hands raised in worship. But slowly, they became hurt inside, and the fire that once burned brightly began to fade. They eventually decided it was better to stay alone, yet the voice continued to call. Even after feeling as though they had wandered too far, the song offers a different answer: “grace haijabadilika,” grace has not changed.
“Come Back Home” is built around the reassurance that distance does not cancel God's grace. Dr Mbuvi speaks to people who have experienced disappointment, spiritual fatigue, or moments when they felt disconnected from their faith, reminding them that the call to return is still there.
