UK-Nigerian rap sensation Darkoo has officially dropped her much-anticipated EP, Sexy Girl Summer Vol. 1, today, delivering a vibrant and empowering soundtrack perfect for the season. Released via Virgin Music Nigeria, the eight-track project is a bold fusion of Afrobeats, UK rap, and dancehall, celebrating confidence, femininity, and infectious summer energy.
The EP boasts an impressive lineup of Nigerian music heavyweights, featuring collaborations with Victony, Rema, and Davido. Tracks like “Psycho” with Victony, “Favourite Girl” featuring Rema, and “Right Now” alongside Davido are set to dominate playlists, promising infectious rhythms and empowering vibes perfectly timed for sun-drenched days and late-night drives. The project also includes compelling solo cuts such as “Like Dat,” “Stay,” “Focus On Me,” “Your Number,” and “Options.”
Originally slated for a June 20 release, the slight delay only heightened anticipation, following a string of successful pre-release singles, including the club-ready “Focus On Me (All The Sexy Girls In The Club).” Darkoo has described Sexy Girl Summer Vol. 1 as more than just an EP; it’s a movement “born in the sun to empower anyone embracing their power,” with lyrics and beats designed to exude boldness and self-expression.
This new project builds on Darkoo’s breakout success with hits like “Gangsta” and her acclaimed 2021 debut EP, 2 In 1, further solidifying her status as a genre-blending trailblazer. Fans are already buzzing with excitement, praising the high-profile features and the collection of dancefloor-ready anthems. Early streams suggest Sexy Girl Summer Vol. 1 is poised to become a definitive summer anthem.
Available now on all major streaming platforms, Sexy Girl Summer Vol. 1 showcases Darkoo’s artistic evolution, seamlessly merging her London roots with her Nigerian heritage to create a unique sound that resonates globally while remaining true to her identity.
