Celebrity DJ Kiss/DJ Kiss: The DJ, Artiste, And Producer Defining Her Own Path

By Akoh Isaiah Akoh

The Nigerian music industry moves at a blistering pace, powered by raw energy, relentless talent, and a deep-rooted cultural rhythm. Navigating this landscape takes skill; dominating it as a multifaceted creative requires something far rarer. Enter Ajayi Abimbola, known across turntables and stages as Celebrity DJ Kiss. As a DJ, recording artiste, music producer, and student of human connection, she is steadily building a legacy that transcends traditional boundaries.

Abimbola’s journey began with a natural affinity for rhythm, but her spark for disk jockeying caught fire during her first year at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, where she was studying English Art. Watching her neighbor a DJ spin tracks every day opened her eyes to a simple, powerful truth: music is an immediate, universal language. She realized that behind the decks, she didn’t just play tracks—she connected with people’s emotions.

After earning her Bachelor’s degree, she turned that inspiration into action. Armed with sharp technical precision and a knack for reading crowds, she began mastering the craft. Today, her high-octane performances are her signature, blending an infectious energy with a sound rooted in an authentic African pulse.

That energy didn’t stay confined to Nigeria for long. Celebrity DJ Kiss has taken her signature sound overseas, lighting up venues in London, Ghana & Sierre Leone  bringing the vibrant spirit of African youth culture to international audiences.

“Music is more than entertainment; it’s a bridge between energy, emotion, and community.” She Says

She remains deeply intentional about:

• Building Community: Creating inclusive spaces where creatives can collaborate and grow.
• Empowering African Women: Mentoring and opening doors for women trying to navigate male-dominated creative industries.
• Knowledge Sharing: Bridging the gap between creative expression and mental well-being.

Celebrity DJ Kiss represents a new wave of African talent—one that balances artist hustle with purpose, global reach with cultural roots, and raw sonic power with mindful intent. As she continues to produce, perform, and inspire, one thing is certain: she isn’t just following trends, she’s setting her own rhythm.
