Calvo Mistari Explores Love & Confidence on Baddest EP

2 min read

Kenyan rapper and songwriter Calvo Mistari has spent years building his place within East African music
through consistency, charisma, and an ear for records that connect with everyday listeners. Born Calvin
Kirimba, he first gained attention as part of the hip-hop group Lyrical Assassins before launching a solo
career under Team Mistari. His breakout project, Mwanaume Ni Effort, became a defining moment in
Kenyan urban music, with its title track growing into a widely recognised record. Now, Calvo Mistari
returns with Baddest, a three-track EP featuring Naiboi that moves through themes of love, confidence,
vulnerability, and ambition.

The EP opens with the title track “Baddest,” where Calvo Mistari steps into a more emotional space,
speaking openly about loneliness and the need for genuine connection. The record balances affection with

intensity, capturing the feeling of searching for peace in another person. Naiboi adds warmth and
chemistry to the song, celebrating the woman at the centre of the narrative with smooth melodies and
confident delivery. Together, both artists create a record that feels personal while still carrying the energy
of contemporary East African pop.

“Baddest Doba” shifts the mood toward confidence and perseverance. Here, Calvo Mistari focuses on
discipline, hard work, and remaining active despite pressure and distractions. The tone is direct and self-
assured, built around the mindset of someone who has spent years earning his place through consistency
and focus.

Closing track “Baddest Vibes” blends romance and longing with rhythmic energy, returning to themes of
emotional connection and admiration. Across the EP, Calvo Mistari balances vulnerability with self-
belief, creating a project that feels both reflective and energetic.

“I wanted the project to feel honest,” Calvo Mistari says. “It’s about confidence, love, and
understanding yourself while still enjoying the journey.”
“Baddest” is now available on all streaming platforms via ONErpm.
