From humble beginnings posting covers online to becoming a prominent new voice in Nigerian music, Berri-Tiga, born Agada Obotu, has consistently captivated audiences with his warmth, melody, and emotional honesty. Following his successful debut project Blessed, the singer-songwriter now teams up with rising star Shoday for his latest single, “Mind,” an Afro-fusion duet that oozes affection and genuine emotion.
“Mind” is a melodic confession, showcasing the seamless chemistry between Berri-Tiga and Shoday as they trade verses. Both artists express a love that is both consuming and effortlessly natural. Berri-Tiga sets the tone for this heartfelt yet unforced romantic offering with playful exaggeration and gospel metaphors, evident in lyrics like, “I don scatter rock of ages, just for you my baby.”
He paints vivid pictures of lavish devotion, promising, “I go buy you new Mercedes, or shey na Bentley,” cleverly tapping into the familiar Afrobeats tradition where love and grand gestures often go hand-in-hand.
“It’s a feel-good song, but it’s also very real,” says Berri-Tiga. “When you love someone deeply, you think about them constantly. ‘Mind’ is just my way of turning those feelings into something you can vibe to.”
With “Mind,” Berri-Tiga and Shoday deliver a moment that lingers long after the last note fades. Press play, and let your thoughts drift where they belong.
