After more than a decade of transforming personal trials into powerful testimonies through her music, Nigeria’s beloved Queen of Inspirational Gospel has unveiled her latest offering, “Maberumo.” This profound new single, a collaboration with the talented Sunmisola, is a lush, bilingual masterpiece that serves as a poignant reminder that joy inevitably follows pain.
From her early days as a backup vocalist to achieving global chart-topping success, the artist’s music has consistently resonated with listeners due to its signature blend of vulnerability and victorious declaration. “Maberumo” continues this tradition, offering a deeply moving experience that unfolds with the gentle promise of a new dawn.
The song gracefully opens with tender Yoruba verses, “Omo okan mi / Omo sunmo mi…” creating an atmosphere of divine comfort, akin to a spiritual lullaby. The seamless harmonies between the two artists beautifully cradle the timeless truth of Psalm 30:5 (“Weeping may endure for the night…”). The production is meticulously crafted, evolving from an intimate, piano-led beginning to a grand crescendo of strings and percussion, creating a rich sonic tapestry that elevates the message. Lyrical gems such as “Can the Creator of time be late?” strike with theological precision, powerfully dismantling doubt and reinforcing faith. “Maberumo” is more than just a song; it’s an embrace, a gospel experience that is soft enough to heal and strong enough to uplift.
“Morning isn’t just a time; it’s God’s promise,” shares the artist. “‘Maberumo’ is for anyone waiting on their breakthrough. Hold on, it’s coming.” With its fluid transition between English and Yoruba, the track stands as a cultural embrace, powerfully demonstrating that the universal message of hope requires no translation.
“Maberumo” is now available on all major streaming platforms.
