Nigerian creative Orisha has officially released two new singles, “Jabulani” and “Boogie,” through his independent record label and creative collective, Fingas Family. The double-single package explores attraction, beauty, desire, and chemistry, showcasing the artist’s genre-fluid approach to music.
The first track, “Jabulani,” is a warm, flirtatious record centered on the rush of being captivated by someone. Borrowing its name from the Southern African expression associated with joy and celebration, the song approaches desire with humor and lightness rather than heavy sentimentality.
The companion track, “Boogie,” shifts the focus toward movement, groove, and sensual energy. Built around a distinctly nocturnal atmosphere, the record captures the balance between romance and lust through themes of dancing, stolen glances, and unspoken connection. Together, both records present two complementary sides of romantic excitement and pursuit.
Orisha describes his artistic sound as “orishirishi vibes,” taking inspiration from the Nigerian expression orishirishi, which refers to a blend of diverse elements. Starting his journey in a church choir before releasing music in the early 2000s, he previously performed with Town Kryyaz, an early 21st-century Nigerian gospel hip-hop and rap group pioneered by Sane MC (Izaya), alongside Galaktikal and OG. Beyond music, Orisha remains active across branding, strategy, and community building.
Both tracks mark a major milestone for Fingas Family, an independent label and collective founded by Orisha to foster creative freedom and collaboration. Guided by a philosophy represented by the number 69—symbolizing the balance of opposing energies—the imprint offers a platform for distinct sounds and ideas to coexist.
