Nigerian vocal powerhouse Tems affirms her mastery of contemporary R&B and soul with the release of her extended play project, “Love Is A Kingdom.” The EP is a breathtaking journey into the depths of raw emotion, instantly solidifying her status as one of contemporary music’s most compelling storytellers and vocalists. Across its seven carefully crafted tracks, the project unfolds like a series of intimate diary entries, each song an exploration of love’s uncertainties and ultimate power. The emotional arc begins with the tender reflection of the opening track, “First,” and quickly moves to the delicate tension between hope and hesitation captured in “I’m Not Sure.” Standing out is “Big Daddy,” a powerful and atmospheric declaration of self-possession produced with precision by GuiltyBeatz and AoD. Tems continues the journey with “Lagos Love,” a track that pulses with the city’s unique rhythm and romance, followed by “Mine,” which delves into the complexities of longing and belonging. “What You Need” offers a soulful meditation on desire and fulfillment, before the EP closes with “Is There A Reason,” a track that leaves listeners suspended in deep reflection. Throughout the EP, Love Is A Kingdom, Tems emerges as both educator and healer, delivering a gentle, profound reminder to her adoring fanbase that the strongest and most essential form of love is, ultimately, self-love.
Tems’ extended play, “Love Is A Kingdom,” is available now on all major streaming platforms.
