The Congolese born artistes comes correct on the 6 tracked body of work as he tries to Put Sweden on the afrobeats map
Drawing on influences from the Afrobeat sounds characterised in his Congolese roots, MAGIIKK’s first EP ‘Reset’ is an accumulation of both his musically-creative genius and work with talented Nigerian producer ‘P Banks’ and fellow artist ‘Dare Sweet.’ The name ‘Reset’ derives from MAGIIKK’s goal to ‘turn his life around’ following enlightening experiences which ‘affected his personal life,’ and this is fittingly depicted in this EP. Boasting catchy melodies paired with lyrical mastery and driven by anthemic, rhythmically-powerful beats – it wouldn’t be wrong to say it truly resets the meaning of Afrobeat in the modern music scene.
MAGIIKK’s upbringing revolved around the sound and cultural enrichment that is Afromusic yet in a unique setting – Stockholm, Sweden where the sound of Afrobeat is yet to be significantly explored. This is MAGIIKK’s main purpose, as stated in an interview for ‘Kingsize Magazine, Sweden’ – ‘the goal is to build a bridge between Sweden and Afrobeat loving countries,’ says Magiikk and he aims to ‘put Sweden on the Afrobeat music map.’ Aided by the help of his producer ‘P Banks,’ MAGIIKK has earned the title of ‘Sweden’s Afropop Prince,’ and is well on his way to enriching not only Sweden but the world with his diverse Afro Music sound.
