Shano Index ignites Malawi’s urban scene with high-energy new album “7 Times”

Afro-fusion and dancehall artist Shano Index (born Newton Nzima) has officially released his much-anticipated studio album, “7 Times.” Following a string of successful collaborations with local heavyweights like Pop Young and Zeze Kingston, Shano Index returns with a 14-track project designed to light up dancefloors and celebrate the unyielding spirit of Malawian youth culture.
The album opens with the vibrant single “Auntie,” a playful and lively record featuring Zeze Kingston. Built on catchy chants and an irresistible rhythmic pulse, the track encourages listeners to lose themselves in the moment. Shano Index wastes no time maintaining this momentum, following up with “Modusta,” a track that urges the listener to be bold and pursue their desires with confidence.
Throughout the project, Shano Index explores the many facets of human connection. On “Zunguza,” featuring Pop Young, he captures the electric tension of flirting through spirited back-and-forth vocals. Meanwhile, the track “Yanja” offers a more reflective perspective, reminding listeners that love is a journey worth fighting for—and even making mistakes for—as long as it leads to genuine connection.
More than just a collection of club hits, “7 Times” is a manifesto on happiness and resilience. The title reflects a central philosophy: that life is made of small, precious moments that should be celebrated “7 times more.” It is an invitation to live fully in the present, build lasting friendships, and embrace the good times with unbridled energy.
“7 Times” is out now and available for streaming on all major digital platforms,
