Naya Akanji Pushes Pass Love’s Physical Barrier with New Single – Closer
Currently riding on the waves of the digital success of her first single of 2022-Temp peopl3, Naya Akanji defies all odds yet again with another electrifying record-Closer.
Naya Akanji is an eclectic pop artiste from Lagos, Nigeria, that has forced multiple heads to turn and countless ears to listen. Her first release “Vivid Emotions EP” ignited conversations around her music and her brand.
Growing up as a kid on the outskirts of Lagos, she was heavily influenced by her Dad’s love for pop stars like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton and Lagbaja, the Nigerian legend. She later joined the church choir as a pre-teen where she honed her skills and discovered her love for creating melodies on the fly.
Naya began her career in 2019, with the release of the single “No Words”, the positive reviews pushed it to becoming a soundtrack to one of the most watched youtube series in Africa: Skinny Girl in Transit
In the year 2020, She released a collaborative four track project with her long time friend and producer, Lemar Abdul, which is titled “VIVID EMOTIONS with the lead single “Eyes On You”, She received numerous coverage from popular music blogs and public co-signs from indus ry giants like MI Abaga and DJ Spinall as a potential female superstar and also got featured on Spotify Africa’s Radr Artistes To Listen To.
In 2021, Naya focused mostly on collaborative efforts with other artistes. Most recently, she was featured on Ejoya’s Class of 21.
According to her “…the song explores things in sexuality and sensuality that I’d always wanted to talk about in my music, about wanting someone so much you don’t care about anything else”.
On this earworm, you just want to keep things cozy. So shut that door, dim those lights, and turn up your more sensitive side to this amazing record tailored to put out the distance between you and that special somebody, as you let her voice guide you.
The song was produced by her frequent collaborator Lemar Abdul. Closer explores and creates the perfect blend of R&B and EDM with a dash of Pop elements.
