Nigerian artist David Otalekor, professionally known as 99Vibez, has released his highly anticipated debut EP, KAMI. The project marks a significant step for the artist, who has spent years building his name in the music scene with tracks like “Check Am,” and now delivers a cohesive body of work that blends Afro-fusion with profound, streetwise storytelling.
The title KAMI is inspired by the Japanese word for spirit, deity, or unseen force. For 99Vibez, it represents a deeply personal journey of inner strength and resilience, a quiet enlightenment that comes from navigating one’s own path.
The five-track EP opens with the title track, “Kami,” a powerful declaration of self-realization. The journey continues with “Press & Play,” which shifts into a romantic space, portraying intimacy as a shared discovery rather than a fantasy. On “Timeless,” featuring Psycho YP, 99Vibez grounds his ambitions with steady flows, blending dreams with reality. The EP takes a softer turn with “Timmy Turner,” a heartfelt collaboration with Savage that speaks to a love that feels magical.
