Bella Shmurda, a trailblazing Afropop artist whose sound has resonated across a generation, returns alongside Dangbana Republik with the new single “Shalaye.” Marking their first release in three years since the debut EP High Tension 2.0, this track sets the stage for the
anticipated Estrellas EP. Bella’s journey from Akinbiyi Ahmed, a young dreamer, to a voice of the streets reflects his commitment to capturing stories and relatable emotions through music.
“Shalaye,” produced by hitmaker Krizbeatz, exemplifies Bella’s prowess and unique vocal timbre. The track blends Afropop percussion with compelling street-hop influences, creating a narrative that encourages embracing one’s true self without explanation. Meaning “To Explain” in Yoruba, “Shalaye” echoes sentiments of confidence, independence, and resilience—a theme that resonates deeply with Bella’s artistic ethos.
This collaboration reunites Bella Shmurda and Krizbeatz for the first time since “Philo,” showcasing a delicate balance where Bella’s voice takes centre stage while Krizbeatz’s production enriches the musical backdrop. Together, they create a groove.
