Gimba Releases Debut EP – Amince Da Tsari
Rising Nigerian Star Gimba, Al-Hassan Gimba Chukwubuikem has released his debut EP – Amince Da Tsari
Born with an innate ability to decipher the complexities of musical notes, and the ears to filter its elements, it is only right that Al-Hassan Gimba Chukwubuikem decided to align his passions with his reality by pursuing a career in music.
Like most others in the game, Gimba’s journey of self-discovery through music has no particular date of commencement. For as long as he can remember, he has been singing. From the choir, to school events and amongst his peers – everyone could acknowledge that little Gimba had something in him that the world needed to hear.
The uniqueness in his story however lies in the fact that being a professional artiste was never the plan for him. Not until the COVID year 2020 when he posted covers o WurlD and Adekunle Gold and shared it on social media. The videos got lots of positive reactions that were spurring enough to make the 16 year-old, at the time, want to make a career out of his art.
Today, Gimba is 20, but so much has happened since the eureka moment. He has made solid relationships – including with Korede Bello, his friend and producer Twitchpapii, D3an, Sarz and many more – , furthered his education at the University of Lagos and Covenant University, and has undergone impeccable training on music business and artistry at the reputable Sarz Academy in 2022.
One would easily tag his experience at The Sarz Academy as “life-changing” for the young songster as from the initiative, Gimba experienced a career head-start, having signed with 1789 Entertainment, been on DJ Tunez’s “Blessings” with Wizkid and Wande Coal, and featured on the academy’s “Memories That Last Forever II” compilation.
Over and over, two elements of Gimba that always catch the attention of everyone who hears him sing are the texture of his vocals, and the splendour of his songwriting. Many have likened his voice to those of 2Baba, Wande Coal and Fridayy, while others would swear that he’s as great with the pen as Burna Boy himself. Regardless, no one is as Gimba as Gimba is.
