Mwanaa is a popular Kenyan rapper, poet, songwriter, and recording artist known both for his solo work and as one-half of the Afro-pop and Afro-soul duo Vijana Barubaru. His music combines thoughtful lyricism with contemporary African sounds, allowing him to move between introspection and celebration. His new single “Hotuhoru (Thayu)”, featuring Collo Blue and Addeh Prince, captures the energy of a night driven by music, movement, and connection.
The song opens with a call to action, setting the scene for a night where everyone is ready to move. Mwanaa references the 8:00 hour, different places, and the restless energy that runs through locations from Wajir to Westlands. The track moves with the feeling of a city coming alive, while its references to residency, poison, and makeki add to the surreal, unpredictable atmosphere. Collo Blue enters with a
chorus centred on movement and physical connection, encouraging listeners to surrender to the rhythm and let the music take control.
Addeh Prince adds another perspective, bringing his own energy to the song and extending its journey toward Kirinyaga. Together, the three artists create a record that captures the rush of a night out and the release that comes through dancing.
“Hotuhoru (Thayu)” is ultimately about losing yourself in the moment, allowing the rhythm to take over, and finding a sense of calm once the night begins to settle.
“Hotuhoru (Thayu)” is now available on all streaming platforms via ONErpm.
